Career Prep Club

The Career Prep club was created several years ago by caring volunteers from Reynolds American. These individuals saw a need and an opportunity for folks from the local business sector to help upcoming graduates navigate life after high school. Every other Wednesday, they give 45 minutes of their time to discuss what it means to prepare to attend college, compile a solid resume, hone interview skills, or brush up on anything else that could help our students with the next steps after their Street School experience.

Ladies Club

The Ladies Club is led by a dedicated group of Street School supporters with one thing in mind…caring for and assisting female students with life. In this atmosphere, students know they can share challenges, barriers, and successes in confidence with their fellow female students and adults who can offer advice or just a listening ear. Tears of daily struggles often flow during their time together, but are quickly followed by laughter and newfound kinship among their peers. The Ladies Club has become a much-needed source of support and inspiration for the Street School's female population.

Entrepreneurship Club

One of the unique aspects of the Street School is that in addition to a solid educational foundation, we encourage an entrepreneurial spirit for students who feel they may have a passion for creating and running their own business. In the Entrepreneurship Club, area leaders share their stories and what were once their dreams of creating their own businesses, and how they found success. In some cases, students take knowledge and experience and turn it into a career. Others might use the lessons learned during these sessions to inspire them to step out of their comfort zone and continue their education when they thought they might not, or take a leap of faith with a particular career path.

Chess Club – Rich Keshian

Some Street School clubs represent the opportunity to just try something new. That is a good description of the Chess Club. In a day and age of 24/7 tech devices and sometimes mind-numbing bright screens, the serenity and pace of chess is an experience foreign to many of our students. Once the game is taught by our volunteers, Chess Club sessions sometimes become the most peaceful part of our student's day. Cerebral moves, concentration, new friendships and respect for fellow competitors, all become part of the chess experience for our students. We extend a special thanks to the volunteers who share their expertise and give of their time to teach a game that can be played for a lifetime and impart lessons that can be used daily.
